DARE to be Different

Clara just finished DARE.  (She passed, in case you were wondering.)  (She also learned that crack is the same as marijuana, so I am not sure how she passed.)  Her final assignment was to write a report about what she learned.  She wasn't thrilled about writing said report.  But I thought her conclusion was most excellent:

In conclusion, I have learned in the Magnificent Program of DARE that consuming mind-altering substances is not a prudent course of action for a young girl like me.  I want to get high on life, not drugs.  If you are taking drugs, look to the example of Macbeth: If it were done, when ‘tis done, then ‘twere well it were done quickly: stop taking drugs now.  And if you are thinking about drinking alcohol, then remember these wise words:  Lips that have touched wine will never touch mine.   And smoking tobacco is quite simply a disgusting habit, worthy of trolls and other social degenerates.  DARE to be Like Me:  Awesome, Amazing and Drug Free.

I thought that was a really great concluding paragraph.  It reminded me of the sort of thing I would type up in a minute when Clara was out of the room pretending to get a drink, but really just hoping that her parents would forget she was supposed to be doing homework.  Clara, sadly, decided to delete that paragraph and substitute a duller, conventional one, guaranteed to bore one and all.

  1. Love it! At first we were all really impressed that Clara was quoting Macbeth. But the "lips that have touched wine" part was a little suspicious...Now it all makes perfect sense:)
